Pamela Pardi

Pamela was first introduced to pilates when she began studying with Carola S. Trier in 1986 and until 1988. She then continued her practice and studies with Romana Kryzanowska at the Original Pilates Studio in 1988, and continued to study with her until 2010.

Over the past 30 years, Pamela has taught pilates at the Original Pilates Studio (owned by Wei Tai Hom), Drago’s Gym (aka True Pilates West), The New York Pilates Studio, The New School, as well as internationally in Austria, Italy, and Switzerland.  She currently teaches privately in NYC.

In 2004, Pamela became a Romana’s Pilates Level 3 Instructor Trainer and in 2018 she certified as an Eldoa Trainer. She is currently a student of the Swedish Institute for massage.

Additional to her pilates training and history, Pamela authored a booklet in 1988 titled “Stretch Eze” and in 1999 she founded Dancetracks NYC, a not-for-profit dance organization.

The Lost Art of The Spine Corrector™

Taught by Elaine Ewing

Joseph Pilates had several slightly different designs for The Spine Corrector, each one with a different documented order of exercises.  This first workshop will be an in-depth practice and study of the spine corrector and one of these exercise orders, based on drawings made from his pictures as well as his specific written instructions and the purpose behind each of the exercises.  We will learn how students of all levels can benefit from doing Joe’s original work on this simple yet extremely effective apparatus.  Used in demonstration during the workshop will be the Original Spine Corrector, restored and from Joe’s 8th Avenue Studio, owned by Elaine Ewing.

Elaine Ewing

Elaine is owner of Rhinebeck Pilates, the Hudson Valley’s only Authentic fully equipped pilates studio, located in Rhinebeck, NY since 2003. Equipped with Gratz apparatus, much of it vintage, her studio also showcases archival, rare, and original pilates images on the walls throughout. She is certified through the New York Pilates Studio and currently teaches both at Rhinebeck Pilates at The New York Pilates Studio. She has studied and practiced pilates extensively through workshops and classes taught by Sean Gallagher, MeJo Wiggin, Steve Giordano, Bob Liekens, Leah Chaback Katz, and Simona Cipriani, to name a few.

Elaine can be found on Pilatesology as the model for a number of Sean Gallagher and Junghee Won’s instructional videos.  She currently assists Sean Gallagher in running his online shop for selling archival pilates posters and in restoring Joseph Pilates’ original Berkshires studio and his original apparatus there.

The Science Behind the Relationship of the Two Powerhouses

Presented by Sean P. Gallagher

In this workshop you will learn about the direct anatomical connections between the torso and the extremities during embryonic development that is part of the underlying principles of Joe’s work. You will learn how the influence from the powerhouses affect the extremities and the extremities affect the powerhouses. Joe’s understandings of these dynamics of human movement are part of his genius. Sean will help provide you with a deeper understanding of these relationships from embryology to the skeletal/muscle/fascial connections of how the integration between them facilitate functional movement and how Joes work fully supports these integrated symbiotic relationships.

Four Rooms in a 20 Room House

Presented by Sean Gallagher and Elaine Ewing

This workshop will continue to utilize the Archival Spine Corrector to explore more of the relationships between the four limbs and the two powerhouses in respect to their involvement in movement and stability. We will study how the Spine Corrector facilitates the advancement of your students functional and organic movements of life using exercises not already covered in The Lost Art of The Spine Corrector™ workshop.  You will leave with a deeper understanding of how to teach Joe’s original work on the Spine Corrector and how and why his original order on the Spine Corrector makes such profound changes to the body.

On display will be the original Ladder Barrel and Spine Corrector from Joe’s original 8th Ave studio (owned by Elaine Ewing) as well as the original small barrel from Joe’s original Berkshires studio (owned by Sean Gallagher). Used for the practical part of the workshop are archival replicas of Joe’s Spine Corrector.
