Starting October 13th, join us virtually for two new class series with Sean Gallagher: “Standing and Squatting Progressions” and “Spinal Flexion Progressions.”

Standing and Squatting Progressions

With Sean Gallagher

 
10 classes: October 13 – December 15 
Tuesdays 12:30-1:00pm EDT 
$25/single class; $200/10 classes

Get ready to work on increasing your standing postures and squat progressions while deepening your understanding of how to find your best balance within your Imbalance is standing postures. Build you connections between a straight spine and closed chain hip, knee, ankle sequencing for safer lifting techniques and habituated patterns of movement while building greater strength and flexibility from standing to the floor. Understand the benefits for bone health and how Pilates standing mat will facilitate loading of the skeleton to fulfill the requirements for this type of bone stressing/building exercise needed for strong bones. This 10 weeks of class progressions will allow for gradual and lasting changes to your ability to gain a standing/squatting practice that is safe and progressive and help your clients as a part of their effort to manage and control bone issues such as osteopenia, osteoporosis .
 
Mat and apparatus exercises we’ll work on over the 10 weeks are: Standing weight shifts, Joe’s standing mat exercises as taught at Jacob’s Pillow, as well as from the archives, Reformer footwork including an understanding of the three foot positions, running, pelvic lift, long stretch series, side splits, Cadillac squats, arm springs, Wunda chair frog facing chair, frog facing out, mountain climb, Ladder Barrel stretches to name a few. 
 
*we will focus on one apparatus per week for 5 weeks and then repeat the series the next 5 weeks to build repetition and learning over the 10 weeks.
 
 

Spinal Flexion Progressions

$25/single class; $200/10 classes

Get ready to work on increasing your spinal flexion and deepen your understanding of how to sequence your movements in the spine, hips and back of leg to gain greater strength and safe flexibility in flexion. This 10 weeks of class progressions will allow for gradual and lasting changes to your ability to gain a flexion practice that is safe and progressive.
 
Mat and apparatus exercises we’ll work on over the 10 weeks are: Spine stretch forward, Roll up, Roll like a ball and other rolling exercises on the mat, Stomach massage, knee stretches round and off, Rowing, Roll back, rolling stomach massage, Push through on the Caddy, Push down, Horse back, pull up on the wound chair, Ladder barrel flexion stretches to name a few. 
 
*we will focus on one apparatus per week for 5 weeks and then repeat the series the next 5 weeks to build repetition and learning over the 10 weeks.
